Norilsk Nickel launches first line of Sulfur Program in Norilsk
MOSCOW, Oct 25 (PRIME) -- Russian metals giant Norilsk Nickel has launched the first technological line at the Nadezhda Metallurgical Plant in Norilsk as part of the ecological Sulfur Program, Senior Vice President for Strategy Sergei Dubovitsky told reporters on Wednesday.
“Today we are launching a project that is unique in all respects. Firstly, this project is unique in terms of scale for the Russian mining and metallurgical industry, but also for the global industry,” he said/
“Investment in the main technological complex alone amounted to more than 180 billion rubles, of which more than 120 billion have already been invested.”
As part of the project launch, the company has partially reconfigured its metallurgical production, built a technological complex for sulfur dioxide utilization and the necessary infrastructure.
